We Stayed Up All Night- well until 9pm

by Gallery Artplus Administrator 17. July 2010 20:54

We are all exhausted after our night with Jim Christy but it was worth it. As the title of Jim Christy's solo show declares, "STAYIN' UP ALL NIGHT" Jim reminded us all that the evening only goes until 8pm as stated on the Gallery rack cards. The evening was great fun. Jim is a humorous crowd pleaser, we (the audience) were highly entertained by his words. We had live music to accompany Jim Christy's poetry thanks to a few of Jim's friends, mandolin player Mike Maynard and banjo player Glen Macdonald. The music and poetry was held in our boardroom, so it was an intimate evening. Jim's poetry along with his artwork brings a whole new dimension to Gallery ArtPlus. Assemblages, poem paintings and mosaic works all summarizing the life and travels of Jim Christy. Jim has lived and shown his artwork along with read his poetry all over the world, he is a drifter- as one of his poems states. The work really confirms his life style as a world traveler a man who seeks, oberves and creates his experiences. All the materials Jim Christy works with are found items. He does not go out in search for the materials he works with, the materials are generally given to him or are pieces he has collected over the years from different parts of the world. STAYIN' UP ALL NIGHT with Jim Christy will continue to show until August 14th on our second floor gallery.
