Tracy John has always been creating art in one form or another. After two decades of city living she moved to the rural village of Harrowsmith where she bought a 125 year old farm house. Twenty years ago she fell in love with glass beads and five years ago began exploring fused glass as it allowed her to be able to work on it easily from her home studio. Tracy John's new fused glass work can now be found in our Gallery shop. You will also find her work with us at ArteVino. "Art has always been a part of my life, it is how I see the world, my inner expression of things I cannot put into words. I am constantly looking around me and paying attention to nature, I feel nothing is ever out of place in nature. When I create a piece of fused glass, I combine layers upon layers of different glass. It is the combination of clarity, vibrancy and depth of colour that creates the textures I love.
The excitment of the unexpected when the firing is complete is what inspires a new idea. Each piece however small is made with love and in the hope something beautiful is going out into the world.
I want people to look at my art and discover something different every time they look at it. It doesn't tell a definitive story, it is up to each individual to discover something. I hope I create work which reflects the joy I feel when I am lost in my inner world looking at nature. For me, it is all instinctual, I just know when something works together."
