Mixed Media Creations

Wednesday, March. 16th Gallery ArtPlus and fibre artist Judith Sogopo Popiel hosted their mixed media creations afternoon, March break workshop. Judith has been teaching art to children for years, her activities were well received by the little art lovers. Judith had the children create both a linear and circular drawing, inspired by nature; a collage using feathers and found materials and an acrylic/ encaustic mixed media creation. For all the children this was their first experience with encaustics but with Judith's help I am sure it won't be their last. Part of the exercise was to scratch into the wax and embellish the finished piece with the selection of found items Judith supplied. The work which was created was beautiful, spontaneous and vibrant. Working with children is always a learning experience; children create without inhibitions, only pure joy. Below are a few pictures from our afternoon.
