Tina Obsorne is one of four artists to make up our Spring Spectacular exhibit, opening reception Thursday, April. 21st from 6-8pm. Tina is exhibiting her Garden Art series inspired by her Artist in the Park residency at Presqu’ile Provincial Park in 2009 and 2010, Tina Osborne created these nine pieces (which you can see, now, in the gallery) of outdoor art from found and reclaimed natural materials. Tina draws inspiration from nature and the environment, painting insects, specifically butterflies and dragonflies, as well as other flora and fauna. As her reclamation project evolved, Tina adopted an environmentally friendly method of protecting her outdoor work from the Canadian elements.
Tina constructs each piece using discarded wood from construction sites. She primes, seals and tripe-varnishes the material for protection, then applies a coat of premium brand mistint, paint returned to the manufacturer for being the wrong shade. See how these pieces can transform your garden, below.
