CITY2SUNRISE: A Journey Through Asia was a great success. The big event of the evening was the raffle draw for "Checking the Line" by Brian Lorimer. There were many disappointed faces when the winner was announced Thursday night but knowing all the proceeds were to benifit the children of Sunrise took a bit of the disappointment away. Brian Lorimer and Margaret Melville put together a fantastic soft and hard cover book summarizing their journey through Asia which was a favorite amongst many at the opening. The book highlights the children of Sunrise through Brian's photography and paintings. Brian Lorimer's solo exhibit continues until August 14.

Brian Lorimer and his partner Margie have been involved with city2sunrise since their early 2010 trip to South East Asia, their spirit and generosity toward this charity has touched many. Vickianne Lane- a representative for the sunrise charity sent a quote to us outlining Brian and Margie’s dedication to this charity,

city2sunrise was a 3 month quest that set out from Sydney in early January 2010.  4 blokes on 4 (big!) bikes 4 Charity! Left from Singapore and ventured through Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, raising money for the Sunrise Children's Villages in Cambodia. 

The City2Sunrise team is very proud to have artist Brian Lorimer and his partner Margie join the c2s team.  Brian and Margie met the boys in Malaysia in January and followed their journey through Cambodia and Laos. 

Brian followed the boy’s journey through the lens of his camera and on his sketch book with a view to capture images of City2Sunrise for fundraising art shows in Canada and in Australia. 

Margie, a nurse, was an invaluable asset to the trip particularly when one of the team suffered a nasty injury to his leg.  Margie was able to accompany Tom to the hospital in Siem Reap and keep a watchful eye on his recovery.

Brian and Margie's tireless efforts for City2Sunrise and for the kids of Sunrise Children's Villages add an exciting dimension to our fundraising activities. Plans are in progress to include Brian's works in a fundraising event in Australia later in the year – Vickianne Lane
